Ladies Are Brewin’ It For Themselves!
Last weekend we kicked off our first event for our Women’s Year for Beer with a Ladies Who Brew session. Representatives of the Community Foundation of Eastern CT’s Windham Area Women & Girls Fund (WWGF) joined David and Stephanie, a brewer from Relic Brewing in the brewery. Leigh Duffy, Lee Terry, Mary Weinland, Lilli Rhodes and Toni Moran of WWGF rolled up their sleeves and assisted in brewing a brand new IPA. The ladies worked up a sweat heading the arduous task of adding local Connecticut malts to boiling water in the mash tun and continuously stirring the quickly thickening mixture.
This IPA will be debuted at our first FILL-anthropic event, held from 6pm till 9pm in our Post Master’s Office on Wednesday, March 8th. Attendees will have the opportunity to make a cash donation to the WWGF in exchange for the chance to offer a name suggestion for this collaborative IPA! A portion of the sales of this beer will also be donated to the WWGF until supplies run out.
The Windham Area Women and Girls Fund’s mission is to break through challenges that hold women back, and, to help build a brighter future for women and girls in the Windham area. A division of the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, the WWGF works to reduce domestic violence, improve services for the elderly, increase economic security and enhances youth development.
